ABCPLD's Board will be holding our Fall Business Meeting on Wednesday, October 30th from 1- 4:00 pm pacific time. 

At the start of the meeting, from 1:00 – 2:30, we will be hosting Alissa Demerse, Roper Greyell LLP.  For a presentation followed by a Q&A. A description of the session is included below. 

Starting at 2:30 we will hold the business portion of the meeting.  Following the conclusion of the business meeting at 3:30 there will be time for members to debrief and share reflections around the legal presentation, and bring up other topics for discussion.

Alisa Demerse:

Alissa is a leading labour and employment practitioner with a unique specialization in Workplace Safety Matters.  In this session, Alissa will share her knowledge about the new Harassment and Violence Regulations which are expected to come into force in early 2025 and speak to WorkSafeBC's mental health strategy including an Employer's responsibility with respect to psychological health and safety.   WorkSafeBC's approach to prevention and enforcement of an Employer's obligations in BC are constantly evolving and Alissa will discuss with us how the current approach is impacting employers across the province and what to expect in the coming year.   As a leading safety expert in the workplace law field with 20 years of experience, Alissa takes a proactive and practical approach to advising employers and we looking forward to discussing these issues and how they impact our sector with her on October 30th.
